Current Status: EXCELLENT
Reported: July 3, 2009 at 06:24 AM

The East Fork is falling back down is fishing is getting better. Jumped up, from some recent rain storms. We have been doing very well on attractor & stonefly nymphs. Dries are producing more with lower flows and warmer temps.. A dry / dropper rig is a good beat.

CFS: 418

Should be great fishing all summer, but you will have to access by, ATV or horseback, there is still a gate at the East Fork campground, but there’s a place off to the side that you can access with motorized vehicles under 50" wide, or thru Elwood Pass which is a tough 4 wheel trail. The forest sevice is in process of fixing the road there was also another road collaspe just past the slide. Be Careful! & please don’t block the gate, or Atv/horse access. Keep checking the reports for updates, or call the forest service.

The San Juan should be fishing excellent again Today! Jumped up Alot in CFS last week due to the hot weather and 6 days of rain storms of Rain. But, it’s extending our usually short window of time to float the lower section. The river is fishable Now!
Dryfly fishing with, Stoneflies hatching, lots of caddis, and yellow sallies and fishing stonefly nymphs and caddis pupa will produce. I had fished the San Juan in or below town about a hour or 2 everyday this week with Dries & some dry/droppper rigs, and got some large fish on dries and caddis pupa & dries. Below town the guides have been floating the canyon section and doing great on nymphs and dries and boating some large browns.

Attn: The PQFP had started stocking the San Juan in town as of Thurs. 06/18. Second stocking is July 3rd.

Fishing is good in Williams Creek. clouded up a bit from the heavy rains, but good flow still, fishing slowed down a little too, but should pick back up. The creek is producing some nice browns in the lower stretches, and many smaller rainbows 8-13" throughout the stream, with a few really large 20-26" Rainbows being hooked on occasion. One of our guides Grand Slammed twice up there recently! We are having some good dry fly fishing. PMDs/PEDs, BWOs, midges, some caddis, Golden stones, Yellow Sallies.
