Fly Fishing the Flats of Cuba

EXPANSIVE & PRISTINE SHALLOW WATER FLATS FISHERY

Fly fishing Cuba should be on every fly angler’s bucket list. The isolated island nation offers a diverse array of pristine flats fishing destinations for the fly fisher. Each of the designated fishing areas are within marine parks keeping them protected and strictly off limits to commercial fishing. These sanctuaries are teeming with abundant populations of bonefish, permit and resident tarpon. Seasonally they also offer excellent opportunities for migrating giant tarpon. Barracuda, jacks, snapper, snook and other predatory species keep things interesting and offer a variety of different opportunities for fly fishers.

I have secured the trip dates of October 31st to November 8th, 2025. 7 nights and 6 days guided fishing. Book soon for this trip of a lifetime! This time of year is a great tide season and makes for excellent fishing. Click on the Learn More button below to go to their website for more information.

"I had the opportunity to do this trip this past November and it will be a yearly event for myself. It is a must do!"

Premier Flats Fishery

DIVERSE & UNTOUCHED

Cayo Cruz is a small, narrow, barrier cay located on the north shore of the eastern province of Camaguey. The small island borders the open ocean to the east and an enormous system of flats, lagoons and pristine estuaries to the southwest and inland side. This area is in Jardines del Rey, where commercial fishing within this designated area is strictly forbidden. The fly fishing only area is 366 square kilometers in size, meaning that on the average day, each skiff has over 5O square
kilometers to itself. The fishing area is virtually untouched and represents one of the cleanest and most biologically diverse ecosystems in the world. Most other destinations in the Caribbean have been heavily overfished for decades.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our hosted travel, including preparation tips, gear recommendations, and booking policies.

How do I prepare?

To prepare for your hosted travel experience, we recommend following the packing list to ensure you have everything you need. You may not be able to get it once you arrive. The most important component of ensuring the best saltwater fly fishing experience possible, is to practice your casting. Distance casting up to at least 50 feet, double hauling, and managing the wind are all skills you will need. The internet is full of videos to help you with this. I have attached some videos in our Learning Center that I feel are the best for replicating the situations you need to prepare for.
